Welcome to Spanish I and II with me, Señora, Lee at Providence High School!
I am excited by the challenge of enticing you and/or your student to become interested in the wonderful world of learning Spanish language and culture. I earned a BA in Spanish and International Studies in Latin America at UNC Charlotte, as well as a certificate in Business Spanish. I have taught English overseas in Korea to K-5 students and have traveled throughout Europe, Latin America and Asia. As an enthusiastic student and lover of Spanish language and culture, I had an overwhelming desire to study abroad. Fortunately, I was awarded scholarships to attend Universidad de Guadalajara in Guadalajara, Mexico, as well as the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile in Santiago, Chile. Since graduating from UNC Charlotte, I have taught English in Seoul, South Korea, worked in UNC Charlotte's Office of International Programs as Lead Education Abroad Advisor, and continued my informal international education by traveling abroad and engaging with international and immigrant populations here in Charlotte. These international experiences in Charlotte and around the world have shaped and molded me into the teacher I am today. In order to help students understand the importance of a renaissance education in today's job market, I choose to incorporate current events, community festivals, cultural research projects, and personal interactions, as well as traditional grammar and vocabulary lessons. Providence High School is ranked 1st among the 28 high schools of Charlotte-Mecklenburg and 14th in North Carolina in terms of college readiness according to the U.S. News & World Report. In order to maintain this prestigious ranking, the Spanish department at PHS strives to provide students with a rigorous curriculum and expects them to do their best to succeed with all the tools at their disposal. We are looking forward to amazing and challenging adventures ahead! Warm regards, Señora Lee |
